Does DBC accept medical aid patients?Yes, medical aid patients are more than welcome here at DBC. We work with majority of medical aids and medical schemes. Our treatment program is covered under your Group Risk Benefits. Please reach out to your service provider for further details.

Does DBC accept cash paying patients?Yes, cash paying or private paying patients are more than welcome here at our centres. Payment plans are available upon request, please enquire at your nearest DBC centre.

What is the DBC program timeline?Each program is catered to your individual needs. Based on your condition, you may require anywhere between 1-12 active treatment sessions over the course of 1-6 weeks. Sessions are typically booked twice per week with at least one recovery/break day between sessions.

What can I expect during a DBC treatment session?A treatment session lasts up to one hour. You will typically see both your physiotherapist and biokineticist for a 30 minute session each. These sessions involve specific exercises & training on specialised equipment as well as cognitive behavioural therapy. This is done to recondition your understanding of your pain as well as to help strengthen certain muscles associated with your neck and spine.

Is the DBC program an alternative to surgery?Yes, the DBC program takes on a conservative approach to treat back and neck pain in order to prevent unnecessary surgeries. The program has been scientifically proven to be an alternative to surgery as well as a pre-requisite to surgery. However, it is always case specific - dependant on your individual condition. The program improves your general spinal column flexibility and strengthens your back and neck muscles to treat pain and mitigate the need for pain medication.

What is the background of DBC?DBC (also known as Document Based Care) was developed in Finland in the 1990’s through extensive scientific research and clinical trials. Over the years it has developed a modern, yet cost effective treatment approach utilising state of the art training equipment to reduce back & neck pain, mitigating the need for pain medication as well as a form of surgery prevention.
