What is a Biokineticist & How They Might Help You

A Biokineticist is a registered healthcare professional certified with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA). Biokineticists undergo years of study and use clinically proven physical activity programs to treat a variety of bodily injuries and physiological logical conditions.

A Biokineticist may be seen as an exercise and movement specialist whose primay care role is to increase your physical condition and improve your quality of life. This is done through thorough assessment and prescribed exercise-based interventions to promote functional recovery, by reducing pain and improving restoring your body’s mobility and full range of motion.

Although, not titled as a doctor, these health care professionals play an important role in your recovery journey post surgery or may even aid in preventing you from needing surgery.

 

A Biokineticists scope of treatment includes the following:

Pre and post-operative rehabilitation

Musculoskeletal injuries

Chronic neck and back pain

Cardiac rehabilitation

Weight loss management

Special demographics (the differently-abled, elderly, visually impaired individuals, etc)

Fitness testing
